New Stuff

New Story: Circus Train

I got the internet to work, so now I can update my website.

Separate page for the podcast.

Here's a long article Terry Pratchett wrote about his views on assisted suicide and dying.

I saw Wanted, which I could tell by the style it was made by the same director as NightWatch. However, the story was...well, I would have written it different. Konstantine was good, though, especially considering I read he doesn't speak English. And Marc Warren was also in it. He's always good.

Past, Present, and Future

PAST

AQUARIUM

We went to the Aquarium at Coney Island this weekend. There were sharks and penguins and otters and seals and eels and fish and walruses and turtles and pretty much everything an aquarium should have. I think my favorite were the jellyfish.

PODCAST

Parts three and four are finished! That's all of episode 1.

PRESENT

WORK

Work's been going well. No complaints. Lots of mailing and database-ing. I start my other internship on the first of Sept.

CHURCH

I'm church-shopping. The church I went to this week had great worship songs and stuff, but then things got a little...different for me. This guy came and started healing people. People fainted. One woman started screaming like she was being murdered. And it lasted three hours. I've never seen stuff like that before. I was kind of uncomfortable.

READING

Here's my MAKING MONEY book review. And my silly little drawing.

FUTURE

COMEDY FESTIVAL

I got my ticket in the mail for this event. Here's Ricky inviting people to it...

Getting this FedEx package equals proof of residence, equals library card, equals free wi-fi. Whoo.

HALLOWEEN

So, we're for sure doing Scooby Doo now. We have a hostel booked and everything. But they require passports even from Americans. Annoying.

business

First order of business. The first day at work went well. The env't is good and it seems like a nice group of ppl I can work with. Mostly just mailed books and letters so far, but they keep me busy for sure.
Got on wrong train coming home which sucked.

New phone. Typos here can be blamed on that and lack of normal laptop internet. Ask me for ny new number tho you'll still be able to at least get my voicemail on the old #.

Finished reading The Hunger Games. Very good. Can't wait 'til the sequel. Book review on my writing blog.

Wrote a short story about something I observed. Will put it on writing blog when I have proper internet. Still retooling Burbank to be released officially next spring on new blog with viral marketing.

Nicole, Lindsey, and Luke are visiting for Halloween. We need foursome costume ideas. Scooby Doo?

Drew 2 pictures. One at the beach and one of another Bradbury story. Again, waiting for internet. I'm reading Bradbury before bed again.

The Good News

First bit of news: I changed the blog settings so that anyone can post comments, not just registered users. So if you've been lurking here a while, leave a comment!

The real news...

When I was in Staples buying a printer with my family, I got a call from Hal Leonard, the publishing company I interviewed with last week. I got the internship! It's a paid internship. It's the one I really wanted! So I will spend MW with them and TTH with Archipelago (as far as I know).

This is great news, but it's stressful as I get phonecalls from other internships that I applied for. I also got a call from Penguin, another paid one, and a big house. I didn't know what I should do, so I told them I already have 2 internships lined up. Do you think that was the right thing to do?

Family Vacation

My parents and brother visited me in New York. We spent the first couple days moving me in and then all of Friday doing the tourist-y stuff. We tried to hook up a router to get me internet, but it isn't working, so I may not be able to be online as much as usual, but I have a blackberry now, so I can still check my email pretty often.

I am officially moved out of the dorm. We moved my stuff into my new place and then went to the beach...
On Friday, we went to Wall Street...

And did Times Square and went to the top of the Rockerfeller Center where you can get a view like this:

Then we went over to Central Park.

Finally, after a long time of searching for the best place for dinner, we ended up at Ellen's Stardust Diner where the servers are wannabe broadway stars and sing even while they're serving you.

Week at home

It was good to be home for a while. I don't know when I will be back there again. I got to see lots of family and friends.

Also, Lindsey and I recorded the first episode of our new radio show (I guess it's a podcast, technically) with Luke and Nicole as the guest-stars. It will go on YouTube when I edit and animate it. It might be a while because animation, even the simplest, takes a while, and I might have limited internet connectivity.

It looks like some friends might be able to come visit me in New York around Halloween time. Yay!
